Mediterranean diet and fertility treatment
According to a study at the Medical Center of Erasmus University in Roterntas after a treatment for fertility, women should follow a diet rich in vegetables, vegetable oils, legumes and fish.
The researchers found that among 161 couples who have fertility treatment at the university clinic, women who faithfully followed the traditional Mediterranean diet were 40% more likely to eventually become pregnant than those that have the least Mediterranean diet.
Furthermore, women who are examined and followed a diet that included fruit, full grain, vegetables, legumes and fish and minimal meat, which is that it helps fertility, but in this case the Mediterranean diet prevailed.
These two diets are quite similar, but the Mediterranean diet appears to predominate, probably because of the emphasis in oil and vegetable oils in general. Omega-6 fatty acids contained in these oils, according to Dutch researchers are precursors for prostaglandins, substances like the hormones secreted by the body and are involved in the menstrual cycle of women, the ovulation and maintaining pregnancy.
