INGREDIENTS
- 1lt alcohol or tsipouro or vodka
- 1/2lt Cognac
- Alternatively you can use 1.5lt alcohol or tsipouro or vodka -
- 600gr sugar
- 1 cinnamon wood
- 6 large pomegranates (trimmed)
METHOD
- In a jar with lid add all the ingredients and shake to mix.
- Shake the jar frequently until the sugar melts (it will take some days this stage).
- Once the sugar melts, it is ready.
- Strain it and put in bottles and keep it in a place without sun.
TIP: If the color is not bright, you can add a little grenadine.
It’s never occurred to me to make my own liqueur, but why the heck not! Great idea!
thanks! I’m glad you liked the recipe! please, try it and tell me your opinion!
I’ve just harvested a lot of pomegranates from my tree and I’m making jellies, but I didn’t know one could make liquor as well. I’m seriously thinking about trying it. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
yes, it’s pomegranates’ season and we have plenty of them too!
Sadly pomegranates just don’t grow here, so I have to buy mine in the market. If we were to use tsipouro would that not impart too much taste and flavor of licanzo? We used to make tsipouro ev year, but has now been quite a few years since we have made it. Thnx for the idea to make some pomegranate liquer.
@tcmaryf
licanzo is an optional ingredient for tsipouro. you can try to find tsipouro without it. and if you can’t just use pure vodka because the taste of licanzo would not let the taste of pomegranates come out.
Oh I bet this is a mighty tasty liqueur. What a great idea to make your own!
I love this idea. Pomegranates here I come!
