INGREDIENTS
- 5 eggs
- 1 coffee cup fresh butter
- 1 coffee cup brandy
- few drops lemon
- all-purpose flour
INGREDIENTS FOR THE SYRUP
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup sugar

METHOD
- In a large bowl add the eggs, the butter, the cognac, the drops of lemon and as much flour as needed to make a little tough dough.
- Cut the dough into pieces and roll out a big sheet, cut into square pieces and form a bow in each square piece of dough.
- In a deep pan, add enough vegetable oil and fry the diples (1′ on each side).
- Leave them in a strainer to remove the excess oil and cool.
- In a saucepan add the ingredients for the syrup and boil for a while.
- Dip the cold diples for about 1′.
- Place them on a platter and in each layer, add a little syrup on top and grated walnuts.

Oooh, fried dough with honey. This is so indulgent.
Those look AMAZING!!! I love how you put the syrup made of honey on top and grated walnuts. I would have never of thought of grating walnuts. I have to make these, they’re calling my name.
That sounds great, so simple and beautiful!
I need to get this in before my New Years, helathy eating, kicks in! yum!
This looks great! I bet they are just simply delicious!
YUM! Delicious looking little bowties!
Yum! I had never heard of “Diples,” so I was curious to see what they are. Sound delish!
Diples
Delicious flaky honey drenched pastries. Pronounced ‘THEE-ples’.
My YiaYia’ and Mom made these for special occasions, like holidays, baptisms, weddings, engagements. Roll them thin using a dowel reserved especially for this purpose, and store loosely covered. Enjoy!
